Booking an appointment is as easy as giving us a call. No referral is required and x-rays are not always necessary. Usually we can find a time for new patients within the week, but these appointments do take longer than regular appointments, and it is always a good idea to book ahead. We also do work Saturday mornings to make it even easier to get your spine checked.
New patient appointments generally take around 30-45 minutes. Even if you have been a chiropractic patient before we like to run through a thourough examination in order to see how your body is functioning. For your first appointment, it is very useful if you bring any x-rays that have been done of your spine, and, if you can get them, previous records from other chiropractors.
Case History: One of our Chiropractic Assistants will present you with a health history questionnaire upon your arrival. Please complete this fully as it provides us with valuable information regarding your current and previous health status.
Consultation: After you have completed the case history you will be shown to one of the consultation rooms and your Chiropractor will discuss with you your certain areas of concern and, where necessary, seek any clarification or additional information. We like to get a full picture of your state of health as it helps us to provide care that suits your needs as a patient.
Examination: On completion of the consultation, the Chiropractor will perform a series of tests and examinations to determine the cause of your issues, and whether Chiropractic care could resolve these.
Radiographic Examination: X-Rays and MRI’s are performed for three basic reasons. Firstly to assist in determining whether your spine is structurally sound or whether it has any pathology (disease process) present that may affect or hinder your response to Chiropractic care. Secondly, much information can be gained as to how well or poorly your spine is functioning. Finally, no two spines are identical and the many variations in individual anatomy of joint and skeletal elements of your spine need to be indentified so that we may provide you with the most appropriate care for your spine.
Below we have attached the initial appointment forms, feel free to print these off and fill them out at home to make your initial appointment a little more efficient.

On the completion of your examination, the Chiropractor will need some time to correlate the consultation, examination and x-ray (not in all cases) findings before any treatment or recommendations for care are given. In most cases recommendations and treatment plans for your care will be given in your next appointment. The report will include an explanation of your physical examination and x-ray examination findings, as well as recommendations and suggestions that may assist with your recovery. You may bring along your partner to that visit, so they understand your situation better.
Subsequent appointments are much simpler to attend, and don't take up as much time. Many of our patients continue through to wellness care, where on average they present once every 4-6 weeks for a wellness check and chiropractic adjustment.
