Bra Fitting

Many women have difficulty finding a bra that fits, and even more importantly, KNOWING what to look for in a correctly fitted bra.

Some key points to remember when shopping for a bra include:

  • Try on different styles of bras - a new style of bra can alter the appearance of your breast shape dramatically and varying designs can also impact the amount of support you receive.
  • If it fits correctly, a bra should not be painful or uncomfortable.
  • The back strap should fit snugly around your rib cage, not cut into your skin, and you should be able to fit 2 fingers easily underneath the back.  It should also sit evenly just under the shoulder blades.
  • The wire in an underwire bra should fit flatly against your rib cage, and should not cut into the breast tissue.  A soft cup bra should also still give you the appearance of having 2 distinct breasts, and not one big one.
  • Your breasts should not be spilling out of the cups, and conversely, if there is puckering or losseness in the cup, you need to consider another cup size.

Finally, here are some great websites that have video footage demonstrating well what to look for when buying a good bra.  The best way is to get fitted by an expert and to allow enough time to try on several styles and types.
